An E-Mail I received this morning in my inbox...
"So I am at the gym this morning, and midway through my workout, after discussing healthy eating and the importance of lifestyle changes, and how we know we have to eat healthy, how we tend to make it harder than it is, with excuse after excuse how difficult and boring exercise can be, why we fuel our body with the wrong foods, when she asked me if I ever ate grass. I joked about not being a goat, and she asked if seriously, had I ever tried it. I laughed and said not recently, and before she leaves, she brings out this container with something in it, and asked me to try her grass. I was hesitant, but she said to just taste it, and if I didn't like it, to spit it out. Well, I reluctantly tasted, and to my surprise, it was good! I said it didn't taste like grass, and then she laughed and said it was barley....a member of the grass family. She said she was tired of rice, and someone suggested this to her, and she now uses it as an alternative to rice or as a snack between lunch and dinner, because its heart healthy and full of fibre and that her colon loved it! More importantly, it was filling when she craves other foods. She said next to oatmeal, this was her new favoritate food, and that she added cooked barley to soups, to stir frys, to vegetables now. Although I have never been a barley fan, I have to admit this was tasty cooked in a chicken stock with lots of spices. Who knew grass tasted so good! "
Sounds interesting, I might have to give it a try!
